A media luncheon presented in collaboration with Tourism Solomons and Solomon Airlines with the theme, ‘Island Fever’, was held on the 8th of November at the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego, California.
Tourism Solomons CEO Josefa Tuamoto, Senior Marketing Officer Ellison Kyere and Solomon Airlines Product Manager USA Birgit Kohlstedt, were on hand to showcase the Solomon Islands as the “Where to Go Next” South Pacific destination. Over 75 diverse media personnel and travel agents attended the noon luncheon.
The persuasive trio presented on topics such as underwater volcanoes, the capital city of Honiara’s colourful outdoor food market, the National Museum, surfing, birdwatching, game fishing, cruising, the dolphins on Savo Island, Marovo Lagoon (the largest saltwater lagoon in the world), World War II wreck diving in Gizo, World War II battlefield sites, Malaita’s unique panpipe music, and the nesting grounds of endangered green turtles, leatherbacks and hawksbills.
Attendees of the event left the media luncheon enlived about the Solomon Islands emerging as the ‘new’ exciting and versatile travel and holiday destination for worldwide visitors.
